My qualifications include a BFA in art education (expected 2011), with a minor in psychology, knowledge of studio and digital art, and experience in public and private schools in Virginia. While working with many populations, including at-risk youth, inner-city youth, upper-class suburban youth, individuals with mental and physical disabilities, and seniors, I have become passionate about helping others find their voices--as I found mine--through art.
I have great compassion and empathy for individuals struggling with communication barriers. Language and culture barriers are two obstacles I have personally dealt with. English is my first language and I am not bilingual. When I travel to Greece, I struggle to effectively communicate with family members who do not speak English.
